The star redesign reading language arts tests for grades three through five consists of 41 questions. The test consists of one point multiple choice and non multiple choice questions and two point non multiple choice questions. The number of questions for the star redesigned mathematics test for grades three through eight ranges from 30 to 40 and the total number of points ranges from 37 to 48. The testing window for the Spring Star Reading Language Arts Test is from April 18 to April 28, 2023 and that for the Star Mathematics Test is May 2 to May 12, 2023. The calculator policy will not change from this current calculator policy. Most students can also choose to use a hand held calculator or calculator application that aligns with the calculator policy updated october 2021.

There are two calculators embedded in the online testing system. Unless the student meets the eligibility criteria, calculators are required for grade eight mathematics test.
Calculators are not permitted for students taking the star grades three through seven mathematics assessments.
